Young Indians (Yi) was formed in the year 2002 with an objective of creating a platform for young Indians to realize the dream of a developed nation. Yi is an integral part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) - a non-government, not-for-profit, industry-led and industry-managed organisation playing a proactive role in India's development process. Yi has more than 2,500 direct members in 40 cities called ‘Chapters’, spread across 27 States of India. We also have around 15,000 collegiate students under the brand ‘YUVA’. Through our programs and initiatives, we reach out to millions of youth across India with the clarion call to action of ‘We Can, We Will’. Yi Chapters conduct more than 2,600 activities in a year, impacting more than a million people. The Yi membership includes young, progressive Indians between the ages of 21 & 40 years, and comprises entrepreneurs, professionals and achievers from different walks of life.

There are three pillars on which Yi's work is divided: "Youth Leadership", "Nation Building” and “Thought Leadership”.

Under Youth Leadership, Under youth leadership, Yi works effectively for promoting leadership skills for its members through the learning programs and missions to companies of global excellence in India and abroad; the development and engagement of students through its 95 Yuva platforms that has 15000 students. Yi's regional and national summits on themes related to current socio-economic dynamics, role of youth and our engagement with the governments at the state and national level gives an opportunity for the members to become effective leaders and collaborate towards a shared future vision. Entrepreneurship and Innovation is one of the key focus areas for Yi to create a well-balanced eco-system. Yi works towards bringing innovation and entrepreneurship at the centre stage of both business and social growth, and support the Innovation ecosystem by identifying, discussing and evangelising innovations in Yi’s key focus areas of education, healthcare, and environment.

Under Nation Building, Yi engages its members under its projects such as Masoom, Gift an Organ and Road Safety. Project Masoom was conceived with the goal of keeping children safe and preventing child sexual abuse by creating awareness amongst young children, parents and other stakeholders. Gift an Organ aims at removing the myths behind organ donation and encouraging people to donate their/family members’ organs, upon death. Yi initiated the Road Safety project to curate safe driving sense among masses on the roads. Yi also works under the broad categories of education, environment, healthcare, employability, arts (sports & culture) and rural initiatives contributing positively to its surrounding eco system and the nation.

Yi Thought Leadership is about Informing, Engaging and Empowering the Youth of India, through a Contributory Movement of Constructive Action, Collaborative Reasoning and Collective Voice. Here, Yi conduct surveys, online campaigns, petitions, debates, talks, and have government engagements. Yi has worked with the erstwhile Planning Commission of India (now the NITI Aayog) in conducting consultation workshops across its chapters for accumulating a youth perspective to be included in the 12th Five Year Plan.

Yi is very active in building "International Engagements” and partnerships to promote its objectives. Yi is one of the proud founders of the G20 Young Entrepreneurs' Alliance (G20 YEA), which is a collective of leading entrepreneurially-minded organisations representing the G20 countries who seek to promote youth entrepreneurship as a powerful driver of economic renewal, job creation, innovation and social change. Yi has always been taking large delegations of its members to the annual G20 YEA Summit, in order to participate in the discussions and finding out possible solutions for enabling youth entrepreneurship.

Yi is also one of the founders of the Commonwealth Alliance of Young Entrepreneurs - Asia (CAYE- A), which is a network of young entrepreneurs from the Commonwealth Asia region and the organizations that support them. Yi has been attending and hosting CAYE summits, in addition to other Commonwealth events, such as the Commonwealth Business Forum.

Yi organises learning missions to many countries around the world to understand and learn from the best practices and cultures. With the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, Yi works to facilitate missions of visiting delegations of young entrepreneurs to India, from around the world. We also host many Indian Ambassadors / High Commissioners to the Indian Posts abroad, and the Ambassadors, Consuls, and High Commissioners of various countries to India, for talks/discussions with our members, in many of our Chapters. Yi regularly hosts many incoming youth delegations from around the world, in various parts of the country.

With sixteen years of glorious past and decades ahead that promise nothing short, Yi intends to become a larger movement of young people and promote the attitude of "We Can, We Will. For more details, please look up Yi’s site:
