World’s young entrepreneurs issue environmental declaration

G20 Young Entrepreneurs’ Alliance affirms principles in conjunction with International Workshop on Resource Efficiency organized by Italian G7/B7 Presidency

Rome, Italy (March 29, 2017) . The organization representing the world’s young entrepreneurs today issued a declaration that outlined the commitment of its growing global network to the principles of environmental sustainability, economic growth and job creation.

“Resource Efficiency is a crucial element of a growing and sustainable economy as well as a means of boosting competitiveness and creating jobs,” said Xia Bing, Chair of the Steering Committee of the G20 Young Entrepreneurs’ Alliance. “Young entrepreneurs across the world know that the next generation of economic growth will come in areas such as green energy and the emerging circular economy. We have to act now to take advantage of this opportunity.”

The declaration, approved by the group at its recent meeting in Johannesburg, South Africa, observes that the shift from a carbon-intensive economy will require innovation and disruption on a scale never before seen in human history and that this will require the engagement and motivation of a new generation of young entrepreneurs. It also notes that focusing on resource efficiency will stimulate technological innovation, especially in the fast developing green technology sector, opening up new market opportunities for young entrepreneurs around the world. The declaration makes a series of direct recommendations to the G7/B7 group in the areas of training, investment, green infrastructure, regulatory reforms and lifecycle analysis and costing of technologies.
